WITH TWO DAUGHTERS OF MY OWN, I want to set an example of giving back to the community. I love supporting the Women’s Fund because my donations affect many different organizations and programs that help women and girls.
The Women’s Fund held it’s first ever Do Something! Day on June 8, 2016. Sixteen girls and boys, ranging in age from 11 – 16, participated in a full day of philanthropy education. Kids learned how to identify what issues are important to them and that they they can make a difference in many ways.
The day also included site visits to three local nonprofit agencies, a financial literacy presentation, and lots of pizza and snacks throughout the day. After learning about some of the needs within our own community and beyond, the group worked together to award a $1,000 grant!
Special thanks to the organizations who helped make this day possible including St. Joseph Food Program, United Way Fox Cities, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve and Verve, a Credit Union. We also thank the volunteer planning committee and our special guest presenters for helping pilot this program.
